How to Create a Chelsea Flower Show-Approved Bouquet!
The Chelsea Flower Show is next week, and here at Gisela Graham we’re fully embracing all things floral, creating our own arrangements and adding some botanical beauty into our everyday styling. If you’re like us and looking to create a stylish bouquet of your own, we’re sharing our top styling tips to help you create something that’s easy, beautiful, and Gisela Graham approved!
1. To begin, gather your flowers, keeping in mind our guideline: select one opulent bloom, one medium and delicate flower, and one that is subtly simple. In keeping with this rule, and to craft a romantic, classic bouquet suited for the season, we've chosen rosebuds, peonies, and wintersweets. Using a mix of these blooms helps create a unique, varied and beautifully layered bouquet full of depth, texture, and visual interest.
2. Next, choose your vessel. You can keep things classic with a vase, or get creative by using jugs, jars, or baskets. Just make sure your vessel complements your bouquet rather than distracting from it. For our arrangement, we chose a neutral and sophisticated piece from our Romance Collection to let the florals take centre stage.
3. Begin with your focal flowers. These blooms will define the overall look of your bouquet and instantly catch the eye. These are usually the larger flowers, the most colourful stems, or simply the flowers you love most and want to showcase throughout the arrangement.
4. Next, add in your foliage. This is the perfect way to add volume, break up larger blooms, and create a beautiful contrast between the greenery and florals. This step is essential if you want to make your vibrant blooms pop even more as the foliage acts as a visual backdrop for them.
5. Finally, finish with your filler flowers. These medium sized and delicate blooms help fill any gaps, making your bouquet feel full and complete. This is the perfect stage to experiment with different textures, shapes, and heights to bring your arrangement to life; just make sure everything ties in beautifully with the theme and colour palette of your bouquet.
