Alternatively, you can drill some drainage holes in the bottom and plant directly into.

You can use metal plant liners to insulate the roots from heat & cold. Alternatively, bubble wrap & waterproof foam are both effective metal container liners. Don’t forget to drill holes in the bottom if you are planting directly.
